Government to receive US$10 million loan from World Bank

The country is to receive a US$10 million loan from the World Bank for repairing, some of the island’s basic schools, health centres and roads that were damaged during Hurricane Dean last year.
The loan agreement was signed during a visit to the World Bank in Washington DC by Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Audley Shaw.
The loan is to be administered by the Jamaica Social Investment Fund (JSIF).
World Bank Vice President, Pamela Cox, is also expected to visit the island from January 28 to 30 to meet with various government ministers and officials in the public and private Sectors.
During the trip, Ms. Cox is expected to tour several JSIF projects, and other projects of interest to the World Bank.
