PM intervenes in Air Controllers impasse

Members of the Jamaica Air Traffic Controllers Association are hoping that a meeting at the Labour Ministry tomorrow will address concerns about salary and other work related issues.

The ministry postponed discussions which were scheduled for today with the association to facilitate a meeting with the Prime Minister on the impasse involving the Civil Aviation Authority.

The air traffic controllers have been restive since last Thursday after talks aimed at settling wage negotiations stalled.

The workers have warned that normality cannot be guaranteed at the island’s airports if the issue is not resolved.

General Secretary of the association, Deano Ledford says the air traffic controllers are yet to be informed about their salary package and hours of work.

The dispute was referred to the labour ministry after a meeting on the weekend failed to produce an agreement.
