Westmoreland crash kills woman

A motor vehicle crash in Westmoreland has claimed the life of an elderly woman.
She is 67-year-old Mavis Thompson of Big Bridge.
Ms. Thompson was reportedly hit by a police service vehicle along the Big Bridge main road in the parish shortly before 5:00 a.m., yesterday.
The police say she ran into the path of the vehicle, which was travelling towards Savannah-la-Mar.
They say she later died in the Savannah-la-Mar Hospital from injuries she sustained in the crash.
A 53-year-old man was also killed in Broughton District, Westmoreland yesterday after he reportedly rode his bicycle into the path of a car.
