A customs officer accused of corruption is to remain behind bars over the holidays.
Tommy Vickers was remanded in custody until January 15 in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate Court for breaches of the Corrupt Prevention Act.
It is alleged he solicited monies from overseas residents using his public office.
The Customs Department says it is currently conducting investigations to lay further charges under the Proceeds of Crime Act and the Larceny Act.
The department is currently on a drive to rid the department of corruption, especially fraud.
It’s estimated that at least 10 per cent of the $76 billion revenue target for the department is being voided by corruption.
