Charles on air traffic controllers

Labour Minister Pearnel Charles says he has requested a second meeting with the Jamaica Air Traffic Controllers Association and the Civil Aviation Authority in a bid to resolve an ongoing wage dispute.

A meeting yesterday involving Senator Dwight Nelson and the disputing parties failed to reach an agreement.

Mr. Charles says a meeting date is yet to be confirmed.

In the meantime, Mr. Charles says contingency measures have been put in place in case of any disruption in the operations at the airports.

The air traffic controllers have been restive since last week after attempts to settle wage negotiations stalled.

The workers have warned that normality cannot be guaranteed at the island’s airports if the issue is not resolved.
