The funeral for eight of the 14 people killed in the Portland tragedy has been set for January 25.

The eight are from the community of Millbank.

They are: Carmen Leslie, Beverly Bernard, Beverly Thompson, Winston Taylor, Ancita Anderson, Leroy Deans, Sandra Dice and her ten-year-old son Neiko Palmer

State Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, Daryl Vaz announced the January 25 date was set to facilitate family members coming from abroad.

The funerals for crash victims from Comfort Castle, Ginger House and Moore Town will take place between mid to late January, he added.

According to Mr Vaz people have been making donations to the fund, which was opened by the Government to help the families of the victims.

Persons wishing to contribute to the fund can send their donations to the National Commercial Bank account 351 077 328.

The Government is providing $120,000 to each family for the funeral arrangements.

The money will be paid directly to the funeral homes.

Mr Vaz says a $25,000 cash grant will be paid to each family of the deceased to go towards funeral preparations and other expenses.

The Government through the Health and National Security ministries is fast tracking the autopsies on the bodies of the accident victims.
