Prince Vale guilty
Prince Vale, 25, who is charged with the murder of Anglican priest Father Richard Johnson has been found guilty of manslaughter.
After retiring for nearly three hours today, the jury returned the guilty verdict for the lesser offence to murder.
Vale has been on trial since last week Wednesday.
He’s to be sentenced on February 4.
Defence lawyer Melrose Reid has requested that a social enquiry report be presented to the court before Vale is sentenced.
The priest was fatally stabbed several times at his home at the Anglican Church rectory, Stony Hill, St Andrew on November 12, 2006.
There was no eyewitness to the murder.
Vale told the police during an interview in November 2006 and during his unsworn statement in court that the priest was forcing him to be intimate with him when he stabbed him.
