The Information Ministry has advised that the resignation of Sonia Christie from the post of Executive Director of the Social Development Commission was due to an illness that has affected her eyes.
Mrs. Christie’s resignation took effect on December 12.
She was appointed Executive Director in May last year.
Information Minister Olivia Grange said Mrs. Christie advised in her resignation letter that she had been suffering with the illness that affected her eyes since last year.
The illness resulted in her need for frequent treatment both locally and overseas.
Last week news broke that the Governor General, Professor Sir Kenneth Hall resigned due to an illness that affected his vision.
Dr. Patrick Allen will replace him on February 26.
