Man not yet charged for stabbing death

The Portland police are continuing their investigation into the stabbing death of a 21 year old woman by her boyfriend at Mountain Pleasant yesterday.
The dead woman is Kelly-Ann Smith.
Investigators said Smith was walking to the community health clinic when the father of her 2-month-old baby approached her.
A heated argument reportedly developed between them, and Smith walked away, but her child’s father allegedly pulled a knife from his waist and stabbed her twice in the neck.
The police said the woman fell into nearby bushes, still clutching the baby, while her boyfriend fled the scene.
Passers by who saw the woman lying in the bushes, rushed her to the Port Antonio hospital, but she later died while undergoing treatment.
Late yesterday, the police picked up the suspect in Orange Bay but he’s yet to be charged.
The baby was unharmed and is now in the care of relatives of the dead woman.
