Kameka murderers case postponed

The trial of the three men charged with the murder of Assistant Police Commissioner Gilbert Kameka has been put off until April 20.

When they appeared in the Home Circuit Court this morning, their lawyers complained that they were served late with a document related to the case.

They told the judge that they needed more time to review the document and to prepare to respond to it.

The accused are Massimassa Adams, 26, of Industry Village, Kemar Dawson, 18, of Standpipe and Rohan Townsend, 21, of Irish Town, all in St. Andrew.

ACP Kameka was shot dead on November 29, 2007 in an alleged robbery at a house in Irish Town.

18 year old Tina Gaye McGowan, who was charged jointly with the three men for the murder of ACP Kameka was sentenced last November.

She was given a three-year suspended sentence after she pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to murder.

This means that if she commits another offence within three years she will be imprisoned on the conspiracy charge.

McGowan pleaded guilty to the conspiracy rap after the murder charge against her was withdrawn.
