Police yet to determine cause of St Thomas deaths
Police detectives in St Thomas are still trying to determine the circumstances, which led to the death of a woman and her three grandchildren during a fire at their house at Land Top in the parish last night.
The charred remains of the four were found in what was left of their one-room board house.
The woman has been identified as 53 year old higgler, Angela Lynch.
Her three grandchildren were aged two, three and four.
It’s reported that about 11:00 p.m., Lynch, her common-law husband and the three children retired to bed.
Sometime after, fire was seen coming from a section of the building.
Her common law husband told investigators that shortly after, a man armed with a gun kicked in a side door and opened fire on them before making his escape.
The fire brigade was summoned and one unit from the Morant Bay Fire Department carried out cooling down operations on the burnt out building.
