The country’s budget is now over the 500 billion dollar mark.

Finance Minister Audley Shaw this afternoon tabled the first supplementary estimates at Gordon House.

The revised estimates represents an 18.4 billion dollar increase over the 489 point 5 billion package he tabled in April.

The revised estimates now stand at 507 point 9 billion.

Recurrent expenditure has been increased by 4.86 billion dollars while capital spending has jumped by 13 point 57 billion.

Among the ministries to get significant increases for recurrent expenditure are the ministry of national security, whose budget has moved from 8.1 billion to 8.9 billion.

The ministry of health’s recurrent expenditure has moved from 23 point 5 billion to 26 point 1-6 billion and the ministry of education received a seven billion dollar increase to cover recurrent expenditure.

Capital spending for the ministry of Transport has been increased from 2.5 billion to nearly 4.5 billion.

The standing finance committee of the House is to debate the revised estimates next Tuesday morning, hours before the full House is slated to give its approval.
