Body of missing Kingstonian found
The body of one of two men who went missing while swimming in Portland yesterday, has washed ashore.
The Port Antonio police say the body of Andre Mair was seen on the Frenchman’s Cove Beach about 10:00 a.m. today.
The other is that of 25-year-old Gerald Thomas who is still missing.
A search for the two did not resume this morning as planned due to rough seas.
The police say Thomas and Mair were among 16 persons from Kingston who were on a beach trip to the parish.
Four of them reportedly swam beyond the boundary line, which marks the end of the area persons are allowed to swim.
The police say the men experienced difficulties due to the rough condition of the sea.
One of the men managed to swim back to shore while another was rescued by a lifeguard.
A member of the group, Ryan Scott who was admitted to hospital for cuts and bruises has since been released.
