The police have now charged the Bedrock Building and Aggregates Limited in the case of the stolen sand from the Coral Springs property in Trelwany.

Devon Sterling and Christopher Pryce, who are the principals of the company, were among five men charged in connection with the case late last year.

The Bedrock Building and Aggregates Limited is charged with conspiracy, larceny and breaches of the Quarry Control Act.

The police are alleging that the company was hired by some hotels to source sand.

According to the police, the company in turn sought contractors to help to remove the sand from a site in Trelawny to the hotel properties.

The principals Bedrock Building and Aggregates Limited and the other accused men Desford Cooke, Edrick Grey and Anthony Hilton appeared in court today.

Their bail was extended and they were ordered to return to the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court on April 1.

Lawsuits have been filed in the Supreme Court seeking damages for trespass, unjust enrichment and conversion arising from the removal of approximately 6-thousand cubic yards of sand from the Coral Springs property.

Felicitas Limited has sued hotel operators Fiesta Jamaica Limited, which operates the Grand Palladium Hotel and Resorts in Lucea Hanover.

Riu Jamaicotel Limited which operates the Riu Tropical Bay Hotel in Montego Bay and the owners of the Palmyra Resort and Spa at Rose Hall, St. James have also been sued.

Felicitas Limited is contending that the defendant hotels were aware that the sand had been illegally obtained.
