Work resumes on Bog Walk Bridge

The NWA said work has resumed on the Bog Walk Bridge in St. Catherine.
Communication Manager Stephen Shaw said the new two-lane bridge should be completed by July.
In recent months, business owners and commuters have been raising concerns about the delay in the building of the structure.
They said they have been faced with major losses as their potential customers have been forced to use an alternative route through Church Road along the Bog Walk bypass.
A Bailey bridge had been constructed but was ordered closed to vehicular traffic in October 2007 to facilitate the construction of the new structure.
The NWA had then promised that a new bridge would be completed early in 2008.
However, construction work had been stalled for months as a result of what Mr. Shaw said were problems with the contractors.
Mr. Shaw said those issues have since been resolved.
