National Works Agency reopened blocked roads
The National Works Agency (NWA) said it has reopened at least single lane traffic majority of the over 60 roads which were affected by heavy rains in the parishes of St Mary, St Thomas and Portland over the past two days.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the NWA, Steven Shaw said five roadways have not been re opened.
Mr Shaw said the roadway from Grandy Hole to Golden Valley, Rio Nuevo to Lambkin and Montreal to Top Derry in St Mary are still impassable.
The White Hall main road in the parish is also impassable after a section of the roadway collapsed.
Mr Shaw said the NWA is also hoping that all affected roads in St Thomas will be re opened by Thursday.
In Portland, the Seaman’s Valley to Millbank road is impassable.
Six roads in the parish were either blocked or reduced to single lane traffic.
