As concerns mount about the rapid slide in the Jamaican currency against its US counterpart the government has disclosed that several measures are being taken to bring stability to the dollar.

It now costs just over 88 dollars to purchase one US dollar and analysts have been fearful that it could climb to 100.

The Prime Minister, Bruce Golding told Parliament this afternoon that the measures to halt the slide include a line of credit from the Chinese government

Mr Golding reiterated that the slide in the dollar is in response to the current economic downturn affecting world markets.

The prime minister is hopeful that the situation should stabilize before too long.
