JUTC new buses hit the road

The Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC) will today roll out the first set of its new state-of-the-art buses.

13 single-operator units will hit the streets in the Kingston Metropolitan Transit Region in phase one.

The buses will ply the Spanish Town to Half-Way Tree, Greater Portmore to Half-Way Tree, and the downtown Kingston to Half-Way Tree routes.

50 of the new high-tech buses are in Jamaica but the roll-out will be phased, in order to have fully trained personnel operate the units.

So far, 26 drivers have been trained.

Another 50 buses are to arrive on April 1.
