Robertson expected in court
The Member of Parliament for Western St. Thomas, James Robertson, is due in court today.
Mr. Robertson is to answer to charges of using abusive and calumnious language to the police.
The MP allegedly committed the misdemeanor in Norris, St Thomas last month when he went to help Rameish Simpson, who had been shot by the police.
It is reported that Mr. Robertson transported the injured man to the Kingston Public Hospital for treatment.
Summonses were served on Mr. Robertson more than a week after he allegedly committed the offence.
Mr. Robertson has denied that he was involved in any incident with the police, which would have caused him to use indecent language.
Rameish Simpson is facing charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and shooting with intent.
He has been in custody since January 3 and is to return to court on Friday.
