Several roadways are now blocked following continued heavy rainfall that has been affected the northeastern and eastern parishes since the weekend.

Heavy rains have now spread to St. Catherine, leaving some roadways impassable.

Communications Manager at The National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw, said work teams are now trying to reopen the blocked roadways.

Mr. Shaw said the agency is also working to reopen the Bellefield Road in St. Mary.

He said work is also taking place along the corridor from Rio Nuevo to Lambkin Hill, a section of which has collapsed.

Mr. Shaw said a technical team is now carrying out assessments in the Rio Grande Valley with a view to creating vehicular access to the community of Mill Bank.

The roadway between Seamans Valley and Mill Bank was blocked yesterday due to a massive landslide in the community of Friday.
