Chinese VP in Jamaica
Vice President of the People\'s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, and an entourage including Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Li Jinzhang, and the President of the China Development Bank, Jiang Chaoliang are now in the island for an official three day visit.
The Chinese delegation arrived in Kingston last night.
During his visit, the Chinese Vice President is expected to sign a number of agreements with the government covering agriculture, finance, education and infrastructural development.
He will also participate in a schedule of social activities, including courtesy calls on the Governor-General and Leader of the Opposition.
He is also slated to visit the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, where a presentation will be made of a plaque for the establishment of the Confucius Institute.
This afternoon the Chinese Vice President will attend a press briefing at the Office of the Prime Minister and will later attend a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Bruce Golding at Jamaica House.
Tomorrow he will visit Montego Bay, St. James, where he will be presented with the Key to the City by the Mayor, Charles Sinclair and take part in the official groundbreaking ceremony for the convention centre at Rose Hall.
