One of two men who were allegedly caught robbing a wholesale store at West Street, in downtown, Kingston yesterday was shot dead by the police.

The police say 19 year old Jamiel Rowe of Milk Lane in Kingston engaged them in a shoot-out.

They further report that an illegal firearm was taken from him.

Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) are that a police team responded to a robbery in progress at a wholesale on West Street just after 9 a.m. but as they entered the establishment they were greeted with gunfire.

The fire was returned.

It was later discovered that Rowe was shot while his accomplice escaped.
