Members of the Cabinet are to go into a three-day retreat as of next week Friday.

The cabinet will be meeting to explore and discuss among other things, measures to counter the current economic challenges facing the country.

Minister without Portfolio in the Finance and the Public Service Ministry, Senator Dwight Nelson said the retreat follows a number of meetings.

He said the cabinet has been engaged in a number of meetings over recent weeks, primarily aimed at examining the financial variables.

Senator Nelson said the meetings included an examination of each Ministry, to determine how the objectives of each could be addressed, in light of the current constraints.

He said the finance ministry would meet with trade union representatives on February 18 regarding civil servants covered under the current Public Sector Memorandum of Understanding.

He said the meeting would be used to discuss strategies to enhance public sector efficiency.
