Old Harbour ganja seizure
The police are reporting the seizure of about 200 pounds of compressed ganja in Planters, Old Harbour, St. Catherine over the weekend.
They said it was packaged for export in the guns for drugs trade.
The ganja was seized during an operation conducted by the St. Catherine South police and the police intelligence unit shortly after midday on Saturday.
The police say the package was found in bushes covered with tarpaulin.
No one was arrested in connection with the find.
Over a week ago 8 guns were also recovered in Old Harbour.
The police believe the guns were destined for Haiti as part of the trade.
The man arrested and charged in connection with that find, Courtney Anthony Jones, is to appear in the Gun Court on Friday.
Operation Kingfish Spokesman, Sergeant Jubert Llweleyn, said Old Harbour has become a major area of concern in relation to the guns for drugs trade.
