The Governments of Jamaica and Spain have signed an agreement, which could see more tourists coming to the island from the European country.

Under the deal called the Air Services Agreement, Jamaica and Spain may designate any number of airlines to transport passengers between the countries.

The agreement was signed by Jamaica’s foreign affairs minister Dr. Ken Baugh and his Spanish counterpart Miguel Angel Moratinos.

Spain now accounts for the third highest number of visitors to Jamaica from Europe.

A second agreement also signed yesterday.

It will allow dependents of staff members of the Spanish embassy in Kingston and the soon-to-be established Jamaican embassy in Madrid, to seek employment.

A Spanish delegation headed by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia will visit the Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kingston today.

They will also tour the Spanish Town Historical Square and before the King opens a new wing at the Spanish Town Hospital.

King Juan is also expected to hold private talks with Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller.

King Juan and Queen Sofia will also visit Montego Bay for an official ceremony at the Sangster International Airport before departing Jamaica.
