A policewoman is now behind bars on suspicion of corruption.

Special Corporal Rosalyn Bell Wilson of the St. Catherine South Police Division was arrested on Monday.

It is alleged that she earlier solicited $10,000 from a motorist in exchange for the release of his vehicle documents that she had confiscated.

Corporal Bell Wilson is said to have accepted a down payment of $5,000, with a promise for the remaining sum to be paid over later this week.

The Anti Corruption Branch got information of the arrangements and an undercover operation was carried out.

Corporal Bell Wilson was arrested after collecting the money and handing over the documents to the motorists.

Last year, more than 70 police personnel were arrested on corruption charges.
