Cabinet ministers have now rapped up day one of their crucial retreat to prepare for the upcoming 2009-2010 fiscal year.

Analysts believe the Government will be hard pressed to finance the budget without cutting expenditure.

The minister without Portfolio in the Finance Ministry, Senator Dwight Nelson has admitted that this will be a difficult budget with some consequences.

He said the government may have to make what he describes as unpopular decisions to deal with the effects of the current economic crisis.

The three-day retreat continues next Saturday when ministers will make presentations on the priorities in their areas.

It will conclude following day when the projected income and expenditure for the new fiscal year will be signed off.
