St Ann robber killed in shootout

A robber was killed during what the police said was a shootout in Brown’s Town, St. Ann this morning.



His identity has still not been released.



Deputy Superintendent of police, Hector Brown, said the man is responsible for several robberies in the parish between Friday and last night.



According to DSP Brown, the robber was also involved in a dispute with another man at a club last night.



He said the robber left the club and went to his house for his gun, but was intercepted by the police before he got back to the building.



According to DSP Brown, the man fired at the police.



He said the police returned fire but the man managed to escape.



DSP Brown said between 7.30 and 8 a.m. this morning, the police caught up with the robber again and another shootout ensued during which he was killed.



DSP Brown said a .38 revolver was recovered from the man’s body.
