One man was yesterday arrested during a Kingfish led operation in St. Thomas.

The police said the man was captured during a search for several men who had shot at them at a beach, near Morant Point on Sunday.

During Sunday’s operation, a man believed to be a Haitian was shot and killed by the police after they intercepted two boats.

The police suspect that the boats were transporting guns into the island.

Spokesman for Operation Kingfish Sergeant, Jubert Llewellyn, does not believe the man who was captured yesterday was among those the police were searching for.

He said he is a player in the guns for drug trade.

His name has been withheld pending further investigations.

Sergeant Llewellyn said he was also wanted by the St. Thomas police for a number of shootings in the parish.

The police have still not identified the man who was killed on Sunday.

Sergeant Llewellyn said the police are liaising with authorities in Haiti to ascertain the identity of the man.

Sergeant Llewellyn wants residents in St. Thomas to call Operation Kingfish at 811 if they notice any strangers in their community.
