OCA on foster care
The Office of the Children’s Advocate (OCA) is calling for several improvements to the country’s Foster Care Progamme.
It’s against this background that the agency has commissioned a study of the programme, which is being operated by the Child Development Agency (CDA).
Children’s Advocate Mary Clarke said the study would seek to assess the effectiveness of the current programme as a means of getting children out of government and private institutions.
She said the findings of the study would help both the CDA and her office to offer better services to children in need of care.
The study, which has already begun is expected to be completed within the next two months.
It is being conducted by the Sir Author Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
