Jamaican footballer released on bail
Reggae Boy Marlon King has been released on bail after appearing in court today to answer charges of sexual assault.
The Wigan striker, currently on loan to Premiership Middlesbrough, has been accused of attacking a woman in a London Soho bar last December. He is also charged with assault occasioning bodily harm.
“He has been placed on unconditional bail to come back on April 8,” a court spokesman told the East Herts Herald.
The 28-year old King, who lives in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire, was arrested on December 10 following the alleged incident in the central London bar where he was celebrating his winner in Hull’s victory over Middlesbrough.
King left Hull last month following a wrangle with manager Phil Brown.
The player has had a chequered history of indiscipline going back to 2006 when he was banned by the Jamaican Football Federation for a breach of team rules ahead of an international friendly against England.
Last December, his driver’s license was suspended for 56 days and he was fined 670 pounds sterling for speeding.
