Defense closes case in King trial
The defence has now closed its case in the Ambassador Peter King murder trial.
26 year old labourer, Sheldon Pusey, has been on trial for the murder since January 19.
His lawyer Berry Bryan was addressed the 12-member jury. Mr Bryan said he had wanted to call a doctor to the witness stand, but he was not available.
After Bryan completed his address to the jury, the prosecution did likewise, before the judge began her summation.
The Crown closed its case in the Ambassador Peter King murder case on February 12.
During the three-week-and-a-half-week trial, 17 Crown witnesses were called to the stand.
The Crown is alleging that Pusey stabbed and chopped Ambassador King at his home between March 19 and 20, 2006.
However, Pusey’s lawyer is claiming that King was killed in self-defence.
One policeman testified that Pusey confessed to cutting King’s throat because the ambassador was making sexual advances on him.
The policeman also told the court that Pusey\'s lawyer Berry Bryan was present when the confession was made.
Under cross-examination, Bryan suggested that he was not present when Pusey made the statement.
