Correctional Officers represented by the Jamaica Federation of Corrections are expressing dissatisfaction with the Finance Ministry’s handling of salary negotiations.

The chairman, Maurice Jones, said since 1989 correctional officers have been paid less when compared with the salaries for police and military personnel.

Mr. Jones said senior correctional officers are paid below the salaries earned by constables in the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

He said if the salaries are not rectified, they cannot guarantee normality within correctional institutions.
