Labour Minister, Pearnel Charles said he is not satisfied with the decision by some companies to cut workers despite clear cost saving alternatives.

The unions representing many Jamaican employees have recommended that companies reduce work days and work hours or even cut salaries in a bid to ensure job security.

However, speaking on Jamaica House Live last night, Mr. Charles said some companies have rejected those proposals.

He said more than 13, 000 workers have lost their jobs since October last year.
