St. James police vow to cut murders
The St. James police said they would be intensifying their efforts to reduce murders in the parish.
The comments come a day after four people were shot dead and another four injured in an incident in Norwood.
Hours later, another man was shot dead in the community.
The commanding officer for St. James, Superintendent Maurice Robinson, said the police would now strengthen the recently implemented anti-crime strategies.
He said the police have stepped up their community policing initiatives in an effort to cut the number of murders in the parish.
Yesterday’s multiple killings in St James follow a similar incident two Saturdays ago, when gunmen invaded a dance on Perry Street in Montego Bay.
Three persons were killed and three others hospitalised with gunshot wounds following that attack.
