A Jamaican woman in Newark is taking her case to get a green card to the US Supreme Court.
Osserritta Robinson was denied a green card after her husband who was an American citizen died in a ferry crash in 2003.
The couple had been married for about eight months.
Under US laws, an immigrant is not eligible for a green card if a citizen spouse dies before two years have passed.
A federal judge in Newark ruled in 2007 that immigration officials were wrong to deny Mrs. Robinson\'s application.
However, that decision was overturned by an appeals court in Philadelphia in February.
