PNP intensifies campaign in West Portland
The People’s National Party (PNP) is increasing its campaign in West Portland.
Party officials led by Opposition Leader Portia Simpson Miller and the West Portland candidate walked house-to-house yesterday seeking voter support.
The party’s confidence has been boosted by the results of a new poll indicating that Daryl Vaz is not as popular as the JLP has made him out to be.
The poll conducted by Don Anderson in February showed the two parties in a dead heat when respondents were asked which party they would vote for to form the next government.
According to the PNP, its poll also shows that most persons either thought that Mr Vaz was doing a bad job or they did not know about his performance.
The PNP claims that Mr Vaz has only cultivated a national perception of continuing to work in the constituency through his high media profile.
Mr Vaz’ campaign manager Robert Montague has dismissed the PNP’s claims instead expressing confidence that the JLP would win the seat.
