Transport and Works Minister, Mike Henry, said a series of training is now underway to facilitate this initiative.

He says policemen assigned to the Traffic Division of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) will also be trained to deal with hearing impaired drivers.

Mr. Henry says the Ministry will be funding the 270 hours of training.

He said the programme is part of the government’s efforts to create more opportunities for people with disabilities.

The transport minister says the move is also part of the ministry’s attempt to improve the standard of driver education and competency.
