More mobile police stations
The Police High Command is set to establish seven mobile police stations this year.
Police Commissioner, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin announced last year that he would be shutting down some stations and setting up mobile ones.
The move is part of a plan to drive the community policing initiative.
Commissioner Lewin said the police want to establish several mobile police stations in every parish but that will not happen this year.
There continues to be concern about the Commissioner’s move to close some police stations.
However, he has insisted that it is part of an ongoing rationalisation process to maximise the available resources in the constabulary.
Commissioner Lewin said more police vehicles have been ordered to meet specific demands and to serve some divisions like Clarendon.
