Bill Clarke court case continues
Legal arguments today started in an application brought by retired President and Chief Executive Officer of Scotiabank, William Bill Clarke.
Mr. Clarke has filed a court action to bar the bank from evicting him from the house to which he was assigned as a bank executive.
Clarke wants to remain in the house and continue to keep the two motorcars assigned to him until his retirement package has been settled.
Today, the lawyers representing the parties made submissions before Mr. Justice Horace Marsh.
When the hearing resumes tomorrow, the lawyers will continue their submissions.
Clarke retired from the bank on November 1 and it was agreed that the issue of his retirement package would go to arbitration.
He has contended that he received a letter from the head office in Canada that he is to leave the house and hand over the motorcars by July 31.
Clarke said in court documents that if the bank is not restrained, he fears he will be evicted from the house.
When Clarke came before the Supreme Court earlier this year, the parties arrived at a consent order, which allowed Clarke to remain in possession of the house and motorcars until the Supreme Court makes a ruling.
