LIME warns customers against scammers
Telecommunications company, LIME is warning members of the public about at least three customer scams that have been brought to its attention within the last week.
LIME said unscrupulous persons pretending to represent the company have been calling customers and informing them that they have won cash, a motor car or other prizes.
The customers have also been told that they need to make a deposit at Western Union or Paymaster in order to claim these prizes.
In other instances, LIME said its customers have received emails and text messages from individuals purporting to be representatives of Nokia, informing them that they have won a substantial amount of cash and asking for a cash deposit before the prize money can be paid over.
Customers have also informed LIME that they have received calls from persons claiming to represent the company and advising that they will be visiting the customer’s premises to repair a service fault.
The company said in each instance the customer had not reported a service fault to LIME.
LIME’s Regional vice president Corporate Communications Errol K. Miller is advising that under no circumstances has the company ever asked customers to pay money in order to claim prizes.
He further advises persons who receive a phone call, a text or email with any such request to disregard it.
Mr. Miller said customers should call the company’s customer care centre to verify whether LIME has sent a technician to their home.
