Ombudsman dismisses complaint against Rowe
Political Ombudsman, Bishop Herro Blair dismissed a complaint by the Jamaica Labour Party against the Peoples National Party’s candidate for West Portland, Kenneth Rowe.
The JLP had earlier claimed that Rowe used intimidation as a method of gaining political advantage in the constituency.
During a party meeting on March 3, Rowe urged PNP supporters to intimidate their JLP opponents as part of a strategy to win the March 23 by election in the constituency.
After examining the circumstances of the case, Bishop Blair said he found no cause for investigation.
In a letter addressed to Mr. Rowe the political ombudsman said the decision was accepted by both parties on the basis that the media was unfair to the PNP candidate by not releasing the full content or at least the sentences surrounding the use of the word intimidate.
