PNP rejects JLP’s intimidation claims

The PNP is rejecting claims by the Jamaica Labour Party that it is using intimidation tactics in West Portland ahead of the March 23 by-election.

In a release last night, the JLP raised concerns about what it calls the actions of PNP supporters and activists in the constituency.

PNP deputy general Secretary Julian Robertson says these claims are baseless.

The allegation comes a day after Political Ombudsman Bishop Herro Blair said he found no cause to investigate a statement by the PNP candidate Kenneth Rowe that he would use intimidation as a means to secure victory.

The political ombudsman said the media was unfair to Mr. Rowe by not releasing the full content or at least the sentences surrounding the use of the word intimidate.
