Another set of Jamaican workers is now in the United States under the Labour Ministry’s overseas work programme.
50 farm workers left the island yesterday to fill vacant positions.
Labour Minister Pearnel Charles has said about 5,000 farm workers are needed in the US.
Another 16 persons also left the island yesterday to take up jobs at McDonald’s food stores in Canada.
Mr. Charles says about 1,000 positions are vacant at McDonald’s restaurants in that country.
Over 300 workers have already left the island since the start of the year for jobs overseas.
