Kingston’s Mayor Desmond McKenzie named several developers of residential properties in the Corporate Area who are in breach of the Kingston and St. Andrew Corporation’s (KSAC) building codes.

He said many of the developers are guilty of building more rooms than those which were approved by the KSAC.

Among the guilty developers are North American Holdings for buildings at 11 Seaview Avenue and Russell Heights.

Mr. McKenzie also pointed to a development at Norbrook Crescent in Norbrook that has been posing several health and environmental problems.

He named Millards Development Company Limited, TP and Associates among the other companies which have violated building regulations.

Mayor McKenzie is to meet tomorrow with the developers of an apartment complex at 11 Musgrave Road in Kingston, who have been accused of failing to adhere to building plans approved by the KSAC.

Mr. McKenzie said while he is willing to negotiate with the developers, no talks will take place until the building is taken down.

Mayor McKenzie said he has been advised by the Police High Command to take added security precautions. He said despite received threats, he will not back down from his responsibilities as mayor and chairman of the KSAC.
