Cabinet to review Sugar Bids
Cabinet is tomorrow expected to review and shortlist the successful bids received so far in the government’s second attempt to divest its sugar assets.
Agriculture Minister Christopher Tufton said following last Friday’s deadline, several bids were received.
However, he declined to provide the number of bids received.
He says following Cabinet’s deliberation, the Aubyn Hill lead technical negotiating team will seek to speed up the process of divestment.
However, no time frame has been provided.
Opposition spokesman on Agriculture Roger Clarke said now that the government has received the expressions of interest it should now speedily move to complete the negotiations.
Mr. Clarke also called for government to make full disclosure of what will be included in the bid for the sugar assets.
