FINSAC association seeks Government support
The Association of FINSAC’d Entrepreneurs has reiterated calls for the Government to put support measures in place to help those affected by the financial meltdown of the 1990s.
Chairman of the Association, Neville Boxe, said the living conditions of those affected by the FINSAC debacle have worsened in light of the current financial crisis.
He insisted that the Government provide some kind of incentive to the affected entrepreneurs in order for them to resume productive activities.
The Association had sought the Government’s intervention in acquiring lost assets after they were sold to several institutions following the crisis over two decades ago.

A commission of inquiry was set up in October last year to investigate the operations of the Financial Sector Adjustment Company. However, Mr. Boxe said he is yet to receive word on when that inquiry will begin.
He said he met with Finance Minister, Audley Shaw in November but did not receive any positive feedback regarding support for members of the association.
Mr. Boxe also said he is yet to receive a response to a letter sent to Prime Minister, Bruce Golding late last year.
He is hoping that some provision will be made for the association in this year’s budget to be presented next month.
