Police probe phony school

The police have launched a probe into a New Kingston-based school, which closed without notice yesterday leaving several students and teachers stranded.

It’s reported that the students and teachers turned up at the Global Hospitality and Career Development school on Holborn Road to find the classrooms empty.

The operators have reportedly left the island secretly for Miami.

Global Hospitality and Career Development offered courses in cosmetology, hospitality, catering and nursing.

Yesterday, calls to the number listed for the institution went unanswered and its website was shut down.

The New Kingston Police say they have received a number of reports from the students and a full investigation would be launched.

Meanwhile one student, who said she paid $105,000 to obtain training and placement in a job overseas, said her future is now uncertain.
