Unidentified woman found dead in canal

Detectives from the St. Catherine South Homicide Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the body of a woman that was found in a canal at Caymanas Bay, St. Catherine yesterday.



The body is of fair complexion, medium build, about 5 ft 3 inches tall and was clad in purple stretch blouse and black knickers pants.



Police reports are that about 8 a.m., passersby discovered the body and called the police. Investigators, who went to the scene and found the body in a canal with its hands bound and mouth gagged. It had several stab wounds. The crime scene was processed and the body removed to the morgue for post mortem and identification. Investigators believe the woman was killed elsewhere and the body dumped in the area.
