Pedestrian deaths raise concern

The National Road Safety Unit is reporting that pedestrians represent just over a third of the 66 percent of road crash deaths since January 1.

According to the unit, since the start of year, 25 pedestrians have died in road traffic crashes.

This is two more than the number recorded for the similar period last year.

The director of the Road Safety Unit, Kenute Hare, is appealing to motorists and pedestrians to be more cautious to reduce the likelihood of more deaths.

One hundred and one pedestrians were among the 341 people killed in road crashes last year.
